Drinking water is very important for your health, but you need to make sure you know what you’re drinking. There are a few different sources of water, two of which are tap water and fountain water. Many people assume that these two sources are the same, but this is not true. If you are curious to know the difference between drinking fountain water and tap water, read below to find out:

Tap water

Not all tap water is the same. Yes, it does come from your tap, but where does it come from before then? Water from your local municipality and borehole water are two types of tap water. Municipality water will undergo a few tests and it may receive additives such as fluoride to enhance it. This water is generally safe to drink but be sure to keep an eye on the news to see if the municipality has been slipping up with their water treatments. Borehole water, on the other hand, is straight from the earth, with no testing or treatments to protect its drinkers. If your immune system is not strong, its best to avoid this water.

Fountain water

Most fountain water is filtered. Water fountains with filters remove the chemicals and metals from the water, making it safer and healthier to consume. Although some of the minerals found in tap water are good for you, high consumption of minerals and metals can be harmful to your health. Why stress about the condition of the tap water you are consuming when you can be sure that your water source is healthy? This isn’t to say that all fountain water is filtered and safe to drink, but the fountains from Crystal Coolers have a three stage filtration system that will provide you with the clean water you need.
